Ceredigion is looking forward to welcoming cyclists and supporters to Ceredigion at the end of the month for British Cycling’s Lloyds National Road Cycling Championships and Beicio Cymru’s Road Cycling Championships. The event will be held between 26-29 June and will start in the picturesque seaside town of Aberaeron and end in the lively, cultural town of Aberystwyth. A Bridgend man went on an indiscriminate burglary spree before being caught by patrolling officers. John Jones, 37, was arrested in the early hours of Friday, March 14, in the Wildmill area of Bridgend. He was caught in possession of property which he’d stolen from houses just minutes before. Just after midnight on March 14, he entered a house in Litchard via a kitchen window. The elderly resident heard a noise downstairs and to his horror came face to face with John Jones in his living room. Jones left the house and the resident contacted South Wales Police. A 29-year-old man from Gwynedd has been imprisoned for raping a teenage girl. Kyle Martin John Parry, formerly of the Caernarfon area, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Tuesday, 10 June. Parry, who had previous convictions for sexually assaulting a five-year-old boy in 2017, was sentenced to eight years and nine months in prison for the historic offences. His sentence related to charges of sexual activity with a child, and sexual assault by penetration. The victim was 15 years-old when the offences occurred in 2015. Swansea Council is taking a new early step in transforming the city centre Castle Square into a greener, more welcoming space. A Church Village man who failed to attend a Fly-tipping Enforcement interview has been fined almost £1000 in his absence at Merthyr Magistrates Court. William Jones of Station Road, Church Village had been invited to attend an interview under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE) in relation to some fly-tipping that had been discovered. Work has recently been completed on installing solar panels onto a community centre roof. Ringland community centre has become the latest of Newport City Council’s buildings to be powered by clean, renewable solar energy. A total of 112 solar PV panels have been installed onto the roof of the centre, with a total capacity of 56kWp. The installation, led by the council and supported by Newport Norse and Inspire Green, is expected to save around 9 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent per year.
