Seven men have been charged with conspiring to sell large quantities of cocaine following a series of raids across Cardiff, Bridgend and the West Midlands earlier this week. Tarian, the regional organised crime unit for southern Wales, supported by the National Crime Agency (NCA), executed a number of warrants on Tuesday (January 14), as part of Operation Vermont. South Wales Police is investigating a fatal Road Traffic Collision which happened at approx 7.30am yesterday morning on the A483 Fabian Way close to what is commonly known as the Amazon roundabout. The collision involved a white coloured Mini Countryman vehicle and a male pedestrian in his early 40’s. The latest data relating to bovine TB in Wales has revealed an alarming and unsustainable rise in the number of cattle slaughtered due to this disease.  According to recent data, the number of cattle slaughtered in Wales in the 12 months to October 2019 was 12,742 and this is the highest number on record. A Mid Wales distillery, which is one of the most prestigious craft producers in the UK, has won three medals at the 2020 World Gin Awards. South Wales Police has charged a 52-year-old man with murder following the death of Luke Williams, aged 26, in Aberaman last month. Mr Williams was pronounced deceased on Thursday, December 19th at Prince Charles Hospital following an incident in Commerce Place at approximately 8.50pm on Monday, December 16th. Andrew John Davies, from Aberaman, was initially arrested and charged with causing Grievous Bodily Harm and was remanded into custody at Merthyr Magistrates Court. Davies has now been charged with the murder of Mr Williams and will appear at Cardiff Crown Court this morning.

A record number of victims of modern-day slavery and human trafficking are coming to light in North Wales – including pensioners in their 60s and 70s. According to North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Arfon Jones, 2019 saw a 60 per cent increase in cases, from 63 to around 100, with the majority of cases involving children and young people being coerced into selling drugs by vicious County Lines gangmasters.
