An innovative financial services graduate programme has been hailed a success as 98% of its current cohort secure permanent jobs in Wales. Since its launch in 2013, the Welsh Financial Services Graduate Programme, managed by the Welsh Contact Centre Forum, has grown into a significant talent creation project for what is a key sector in Wales, helping to retain the skills of the top graduates in the region. The ‘Building Pembrokeshire’s Capacity to Care’ project was launched on December 3rd, offering free support to Pembrokeshire’s care entrepreneurs. The event was opened by Jonathan Griffiths, Director of Social Services and Housing at Pembrokeshire County Council, who outlined the benefits of the project in expanding the range of local care and support services available to people in Pembrokeshire. The project has been developed from the success of ‘Community Catalysts’, an organisation supporting care enterprises in rural parts of England. Principality Building Society has donated over 400 Christmas presents to its charity partners the Teenage Cancer Trust and Alzheimer’s Society Cymru. Donated by the Society’s Members and colleagues, the gifts will put a smile on the faces of those living with dementia and cancer this Christmas. Ran as part of the Society’s holiday gift appeal, the gifts donated include pampering sets, crosswords, confectionary items and books. The presents will be delivered to the Teenage Cancer Trust’s unit at the University Hospital of Wales and support groups at Alzheimer’s Society’s centre in Cardiff this week. Ex-Tata Steel man Delme Davies and wife Nia have got off to a flying start with their new accountancy firm. The two experienced accountants have set up Davies Warlow in their home town of Port Talbot Delme joined British Steel in 1998 when the Corporation’s finance operation transferred from London to Llanwern. He then moved with the department to Orb Electrical Steels in Newport, and finally to the Port Talbot plant, holding a number of senior finance roles over the years. Roads have reopened following a collision involving an ambulance and car. South Wales Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision between an ambulance and a car at about 5pm yesterday evening at a junction of Waungron Road and Western Avenue. The road was closed at Western Avenue by Ely Bridge and Waungron Road whilst teams worked to free someone from the car. Roads have since reopened. The National Children of Wales Awards is calling for final nominations for its inaugural event, which will take place at the Celtic Manor on April 3, 2020 – and it is especially seeking young entrepreneurs. The deadline for nominations is midnight on December 31, 2019. The awards will recognise and celebrate the courage and achievements of children from across Wales.
