The number of overdue invoices on the books of Welsh businesses hit a 26-month high in April 2025, according to new research from R3, the UK’s insolvency and restructuring trade body. R3’s analysis of data provided by Creditsafe shows there were 156,775 overdue invoices on the books of Welsh businesses in April 2025 – the highest on record since February 2023’s figure of 161,860, and a 19.2% increase on April 2024’s total of 131,272. St David’s Cardiff has announced the signing of a brand-new sporting superstore along with the comeback for a much-loved watch brand. Sports and fashion retailer JD will open a new 31,936 square foot store at the city shopping destination in spring 2026. Gareth Neale, aged 47, of Cathays was sentenced to 30 months on May 29 at Cardiff Crown Court after pleading guilty to burglary dwelling and theft. This followed an incident on January 17, 2025, at 3.50am, when the victim called 999 from her bedroom reporting she could hear someone downstairs in her house. Officers attended the address in Llandaff within minutes and entered through the back door. They observed the lights were on inside and found a black rucksack on the floor outside an open window. The Vale of Glamorgan Council has approved the use of the eastern lake at Cosmeston Country Park to pilot an outdoor water park for the remaining summer months. The new attraction – in partnership with the Aqua Park Group – will feature an inflatable obstacle course, including climbing walls, trampolines and giant slides.
