Kidney Wales has launched its inaugural awards, celebrating the shining lights of organ donation and those who have contributed to the treatment of kidney disease across Wales. The main award of the night, the Kidney Wales Organ Donation Award, was given posthumously to Teddy Houlston, who in 2014 lived for 100 minutes and became the UK’s youngest ever organ donor. The Welsh Government has been urged to consider enforcement of existing regulation surrounding the private rental sector in Wales rather than introduce new costly measures through the Renting Homes (Fees etc) (Wales) Bill. The call has come from the Managing Director of Parkmans, Charlotte Burles Corbett. Following a meeting with Tidal Lagoon Power, the company behind the Swansea Bay Tidal Lagoon, Green Party of England and Wales deputy leader Amelia Womack has called on the Westminster Government to reverse their decision not the support the project. Womack, who’s from South Wales, met with the company earlier to survey their plans and learn more about their proposals. A report issued by the House of Commons Welsh Affairs Committee ‘Brexit: priorities for Welsh agriculture’ has been cautiously welcomed by the Farmers’ Union of Wales.
