A major policing initiative launched in Butetown has led to more than 500 arrests and the dismantling of several major drug lines, according to South Wales Police. The Clear, Hold, Build programme was introduced in late 2024 in response to growing concerns around serious organised crime in the area, including daily reports of drug dealing, violent crime and anti-social behaviour. Backed by the Home Office, the three-stage approach focuses on removing organised criminals from communities through targeted enforcement, before stabilising the area with increased police visibility and support from partner agencies. The reduced rate on petrol and diesel was first introduced by the previous Conservative government in 2022 after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine caused fuel prices to surge. It had been due to begin phasing out in September, but Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer announced it would now continue through to the end of 2026. Speaking in the House of Commons, the Prime…

A tax break worth between £300 and £850 on a typical installation ends on 31 March 2027. Without further extension, VAT on residential installations would revert to 5% from April 2027, adding between £300 and £850 to a typical Welsh household installation. Alongside Welsh Government interest-free loans, ECO4 Flex funding for lower-income households and continued energy bill volatility, Welsh…
