Acorn by Synergie is once again supporting the Dalmatian Bike Ride, helping raise funds for one of the UK’s largest providers of hospice at home care in the process. Leading Welsh homelessness and rough sleeping charity, The Wallich, has appointed Platfform’s Oliver Townsend as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees. Mr Townsend replaces Interim Chair Cinzia Porcedda and predecessor Will Henson, who stepped down following almost three years as Board Chair. Oliver has supported The Wallich since 2014, officially joining its Board in 2021 and becoming Chair in April 2024. Transport for Wales is pleased to announce that Cardiff Bus Interchange will open in June with bus services scheduled to start on Sunday 30 June 2024. On 27, 28 and 29 June TfW will open the doors to the new interchange so that members of the public can learn about the new facilities on offer before bus services officially start running from 30 June. With 14 bus bays, the new transport interchange will be operated by Transport for Wales and will help improve the public transport network in Wales. Croeso Pubs Ltd, the South Wales pub chain which already runs seven venues including The Philharmonic and Brewhouse in Cardiff, is taking over the lease of The Bear’s Head in Penarth. The pub in Windsor Road, Penarth, was formerly run by JD Wetherspoons, which announced its sudden closure in March when it decided not to renew the lease on the venue. Thirteen Powys companies were helped to expand or secure their future in the last six months thanks to Growth Grants from the county council. They are involved in a wide range of activities from house building to brewing and all received sums of between £1,000 and £25,000 after a total of nearly £1.1 million was secured by the council, from the UK Government, via the Shared Prosperity Fund.
