Energy efficiency work across Denbighshire schools is tackling budget pressures by helping to reduce costs. Denbighshire County Council’s Energy team has delivered and is working on several projects to help improve council building energy efficiency and also support the reduction of carbon emissions and usage costs over the longer term. The Mayor of Neath Port Talbot Cllr Chris Williams has officially opened a new extension at the Baglan Moors based charity Bulldogs Boxing and Community Activities. Bulldogs BCA is a partnership between the registered charity Bulldogs Boxing & Community Activities and Port Talbot Amateur Boxing Club. The Charity delivers community focused activities while the Boxing Club delivers the sport. RCT Council has provided a progress update on the construction phase of the new extra care housing scheme in Porth. Working jointly with Linc Cymru, the exciting scheme will bring the former Dan y Mynydd Care Home site back into use by constructing a modern four-storey development containing 60 extra care apartments for older people, with communal facilities including a dining area, hair salon, activity room, day centre, offices and car parking. Monmouthshire County Council is pleased to announce that it has been awarded up to £8.4 million in transport funding across the county to deliver its projects. The funding includes contributions from the Welsh Goverment’s Active Travel Fund, Local Transport Fund, Resilient Roads Fund, Road Safety Capital & Revenue, 20MPH and Safe Routes in Communities. Significant flood alleviation work has recently been completed in Cwmaman – which has strengthened the infrastructure at the Nant Aman Fach to help reduce the risk of flooding to nearby properties during storm events. The Cwmaman Flood Alleviation Scheme (Phase 2) got underway during autumn 2023, and has been designed to reduce the risk of flooding to around 78 properties across Glanaman Road and Brynhyfryd.
