Llandovery is set to host a diverse array of brand new theatre productions, created by prominent Welsh writers and theatre makers specifically for unexpected locations within the town centre on Saturday, 28 September 2024. Each production will last 15 minutes and will be held in unique non-theatrical venues throughout Llandovery including a car showroom, a pub beer garden, a fish and chip shop and the castle ruins. Dramatic pictures of the Northern Lights (aurora borealis) were recently captured across the UK as a significant solar storm struck the Earth’s atmosphere. A man and a woman have today been jailed for a total of 48 years for murder. Lauren Harris, 29, of no fixed abode but originally from the Llandudno area, and David Webster, 43, of Lacey Street, Widnes murdered 65-year-old Mark Wilcox at his home in Colwyn Bay on November 20th last year. They both appeared before Mold Crown Court today, where they were both sentenced to life in prison. Powys County Council’s Grade II listed building the Gwalia in Llandrindod Wells has been put up for sale with an asking price of £250,000. Located near the town centre the building is currently used for the library, registration services and social care provision, the services will remain in the building until alternative permanent arrangements are in place. A new Bovine TB Eradication Programme Board has been established for Wales and is the latest development in reaching the shared goal of a a TB-free Wales. The news was confirmed today by Huw Irranca-Davies, Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and Rural Affairs, ahead of a week attending agricultural shows across Wales. In preparation for hosting the men’s UEFA U19 Championship in North Wales, the FAW is announcing a significant £3m worth of investment into facilities for the tournament that will take place between June and July 2026. Wales was awarded the U19 Championship by UEFA in September 2023 and the finals tournament will be used to celebrate the FAW’s 150th anniversary.
