Cardiff dentist takes ownership of new practice

A Cardiff-based dentist has become the new owner of a well-established dental practice after securing a six-figure funding package from Lloyds Bank.

Dr Omar Parvaiz has used the loan to purchase Park Place Dental Practice, which is conveniently located just off Park Place in the heart of the city. The one-surgery practice, which has been established for more than twenty years and specialises in cosmetic dentistry, currently provides dental care for around 4,500 patients in the area.

Dr Parvaiz now has ambitious plans to expand the practice’s current service offering over the coming year. This will include extending its scope of implant dentistry, as well as widening its orthodontics offering to include more children and young adults.

With a commitment to increase patients’ understanding of cosmetic dental procedures before surgery and reduce the fear of the unknown, Dr Parvaiz and his team will also use ‘behind the scenes’ video content to showcase everything from routine dental treatments through to demonstrations of how cosmetic procedures such as implementing dental veneers work. This means patients will be able to see what the surgery involves and what follow-on care may be required before they even contact the practice.

The dentists will also invest in modern state-of-the-art technology, including digital scanners, to provide a more accurate and efficient service to patients.

Park Place Dental Practice currently employs more than ten people, including a further three fully qualified dentists that work alongside Dr Parvaiz. The dentist has ambitions to increase headcount further over the coming year to help drive his plans for growth, and this will include a combination of dentists, dental nurses, and reception staff.

Dr Omar Parvaiz, who comes from Cardiff, has more than six years dental experience and has been part of the Park Place Dental Practice team for nearly three years.

He said: “The smile is the focal point of the face and in today’s day and age, more and more people want to achieve perfect Hollywood pearly whites. Our goal is to help redefine smiles whilst increasing awareness and understanding of what cosmetic dentistry procedures involve, and I’m confident that our new video content will help to lift the veil between dentists and patients to better support this.

“Taking ownership of my own dental practice is a big step for me and I’m really looking forward to building further on Park Place Dental’s existing legacy, which is first and foremost about providing outstanding care to our patients. The Lloyds Bank team has been hugely supportive throughout the whole acquisition process and now that we’re up and running, I’m looking forward to continuing to work with them in the future as the practice continues to expand.”

Tim Kibby, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, said: “Omar has incredible ambition and drive to amplify the already excellent care the Park Place Dental Practice provides to its patients. He firmly believes that by empowering people with the knowledge they need to make the best decisions for their smiles and health, this can serve to improve the future of dentistry and we’re so pleased that we’ve been able to help him acquire his first practice.

“We have no doubt that he will enjoy huge success as he looks to grow the practice and we will remain by his side as he does so.”
