Learn to save a life with St John Ambulance Cymru this September

St John Ambulance Cymru’s Save a Life September campaign is back, and this year the charity is encouraging as many people as possible to learn lifesaving first aid skills with them.

The Save a Life September campaign takes place annually, aiming to teach more people across Wales first aid skills free of charge. It also encourages individuals to sign up to one of St John Ambulance Cymru’s renowned first aid courses, creating more potential lifesavers in the communities of Wales.

St John Ambulance Cymru offers a vast range of courses, from first aid at work training to more specific sessions like mental health first aid. The charity also offers training demonstrations for schools and community groups completely free of charge. First aid knowledge really does save lives and makes Wales a safer place for all, so St John Ambulance Cymru are determined to create more lifesavers throughout Wales this September.

Basic first aid knowledge gives you the confidence to act quickly in an emergency and can sometimes mean the difference between a life saved and a life lost. As part of the Save a Life September campaign, St John Ambulance Cymru will be holding public events across Wales, delivering free face-to-face first aid demonstrations. This includes the One Great Day event at the Red Dragon Centre in Cardiff on Saturday 9th September. St John Ambulance Cymru will be there to support the various fun activities and to provide free first aid demonstrations for all the family.

The public will have the opportunity to learn lifesaving first aid skills, donate to support St John Ambulance Cymru’s charitable work and ask members any first aid-related questions at various events throughout Wales.

Throughout September, the organisation will also be sharing first aid guidance across social media. Look out for posts about administering CPR, stopping somebody from choking, treating severe bleeding and delivering mental health first aid. Emergencies of this kind occur every day and St John Ambulance Cymru are passionate about arming people with the skills required to save a life.

Nichola Couceiro, Head of Fundraising and Communications at St John Ambulance Cymru said, “the Save a Life September campaign is so important because you never know when you may need to use first aid, whether it be a loved one who’s fallen ill or a local emergency in your community. Learning first aid means you can be there for someone when they need it the most.”

“We can’t wait to meet the public throughout the campaign and pass on some lifesaving skills at our demonstrations.”

The Save a Life September campaign is taking St John Ambulance Cymru one step closer to their vision of having first aid for everyone – anytime, anywhere. The charity is urging as many people as possible to get involved.
