A team of staff in the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities Delivery Unit at Cefn Coed Hospital in Swansea have organised a special public event to mark World Mental Health Day.

[aoa id=”1″]The event, which will focus on the World Federation for Mental Health’s 2018 awareness day theme of young people and Mental Health in a changing world – will take place on Wednesday 10thOctober at the Grand Theatre in Swansea.[/aoa]

This year’s theme was developed in observance of the increased amount of time young people are spending on the internet and the rise of cyber-crimes, cyber bullying and online violent games.

David Roberts is the Service Director for Mental Health & learning Disabilities at Cefn Coed Hospital. He said:

“Our event is to raise awareness of the issues our youth and young adults in the area may be facing today.

“Young adults are at the age when serious mental illnesses can occur, so it’s important to educate them about mental health and wellbeing and give them the best advice on what they can do if they are finding it difficult to cope”.

There will be a variety of guest speakers throughout the day, as well as forty stallholders from across a wide range of mental health services, to provide information and support to attendees.

The event is free, and takes place between 10am and 3:30pm. No pre-booking is required.

Although the theme for the event is Mental Health and Young People, the event is open to all ages who may be interested.
