New research by Start Up Loans, conducted by YouGov, reveals less than half (46%) of small businesses use AI at work. Furthermore, a third (34%) of small business leaders only have a ‘basic understanding’ of AI tools. Paralympian athlete, media commentator and successful businesswoman, Elizabeth Johnson, has been awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Cardiff Metropolitan University this week. Dogs Trust is urging dog owners across Wales to take extra care around bodies of water this summer following concerns of an increase in blue-green algae due to the prolonged hot weather. Blue-green algae is a type of bacteria found in lakes, ponds, and rivers, and it can be highly toxic to dogs. A Swansea-based accountancy firm has taken on a Llanelli counterpart, following a six-figure loan from the Development Bank of Wales. Unity Accountancy bought Quotanet supported by a £280,000 loan from the Wales Flexible Investment Fund. The deal allows former Quotanet owner Roger Bowen to pursue other business interests, while bringing seven members of staff and a local client base of more than 700 businesses under Unity’s management. A man has been jailed for causing death by dangerous driving, following a collision in 2023. Christopher West, 42 years old, from Ely, Cardiff first appeared at Cardiff Magistrates Court on April 8, 2025 where he pleaded guilty to causing death by careless/ inconsiderate driving and causing death by driving a vehicle whilst unlicensed/ uninsured.
