A local testing site (LTS) opened in Newport on Thursday 28 January as part of the government’s drive to improve access to Covid-19 tests. Duffryn residents will be able to book a test at the LTS in the car park of the Duffryn Arms on Duffryn Drive. From Saturday, it will operate from 8am to 8pm. A revised and updated coronavirus testing strategy has been published by Health Minister Vaughan Gething. The original testing strategy was published in July 2020 and has been revised in light of our greater understanding of the virus, the development of new testing technology and the roll-out of our vaccination programme. People in Wales will soon be able to suggest places in their community they’d like to work, as part of the Welsh Government’s long-term ambition to see around 30% of the workforce working from home or working remotely. The First Minister will today confirm alert level four lockdown restrictions will remain in place in Wales for the next three weeks. While the situation in Wales is improving, lockdown restrictions must continue for another three weeks to allow the NHS to recover. Patients who are putting off important heart scans until they get a Covid-19 vaccination risk damaging their health or worse, a worried clinician has warned. Since the new vaccines became available, a worryingly high number of patients are cancelling or failing to turn up for their ultrasound cardiac scans, said Swansea Bay UHB Head of Clinical Physiology Services, Suzanne Churchill. A 76-year-old ex-detective from Caernarfon thanks passers-by for bringing him back to life following a cardiac arrest. Gwyn Roberts’s heart stopped for eight minutes while local people performed CPR, saving his life.
