Wales’ Emerging Tech Fest will go global for 2021, as the UK’s first major technology event of the year is set to be held as a virtual event across 26th – 28th January. Principality Building Society has announced a funding pot of £25,000 for secondary schools to deliver financial education qualifications. The funding will allow 25 schools across Wales to access £1,000 in funding each so students can gain a qualification in financial capability from The London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF). Children’s charity Barnardo’s Cymru has received a donation of £2,000 from the Amazon fulfilment centre in Swansea to support its local services following the impact of COVID-19. The staff and volunteers at Barnardo’s Bays+ Leaving Care Service received a £1,000 cash donation and a donation of tablets, phones and WiFi routers worth £1,000 from the Amazon team to help increase the reach of its services across the region. A BUILDING degree run in partnership with Coleg Cambria has received more than 800 applications. North Wales-based housebuilder Redrow revealed the staggering number of people who applied for its Sponsored Construction Management Degree Programme – formerly known as Redrow’s Housebuilding degree – during the summer. This follows the housebuilder opening the programme up to those not currently employed by Redrow. This year’s Diwali celebrations will see artists from Wales and India come together to share how they have worked in partnership to create new work. In 2017 British Council Wales launched India Wales, a cultural programme that has seen artists from both countries crossing the world to work together. Since the programme’s launch, artists in Wales and India have continued to collaborate on projects across literature, dance, theatre and visual arts. FREE digital and manufacturing apprenticeships will be the focus of a webinar uniting colleges and universities in North Wales. Bangor and Wrexham Glyndwr universities, Coleg Cambria, Grwp Llandrillo Menai and The Open University (OU) have joined forces to promote fully funded apprenticeships.
