The commander leading South Wales Police’s response to Coronavirus has praised the majority of the public who heeded the government plea to stay home and save lives over the Easter bank holiday period. Despite the glorious weather, the region’s parks, beaches and popular tourist spots remained largely deserted as the public played their part to help slow the spread of the disease. A 32-year-old man from Ely has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. The suspect was arrested in Grangetown during the early hours of the morning and remains in custody. Police were called to Harris Avenue, Rumney, at 3.25pm on Monday, April 13 to reports of a serious assault. A 21-year-old man from Tremorfa has undergone surgery for life-changing injuries, caused by what are described as a machete and shot gun. The criteria for grant support under the Welsh Government’s Economic Resilience Fund have been revealed and the application process is expected to go live this week on Friday 17 April. Newport City Council has distributed nearly £19m worth of grants so far as part of a package of support to Newport businesses in response to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Diabetes UK Cymru is today urging parents not to let coronavirus fears stop them from seeking medical help if they’re worried their child is showing the signs and symptoms of type 1 diabetes. Two years ago, Tafsila Khan could never have imagined herself on stage. The mum-of-three from Cardiff had always been told she had a talent for wit but never saw herself as a performer.
