New research showing how people across Wales have been affected by the coronavirus crisis has been published for the first time. The new monthly telephone version of the National Survey for Wales asked 3,000 people from across Wales questions on wellbeing and loneliness, employment, finances, food poverty, GP appointments, social care, and education to find out the how the pandemic has affected their lives. A series of new traffic schemes will be put in place across Cardiff, to ensure children and families can maintain social distancing safely and be supported to use active travel, when schools reopen from Monday 29, June. Road closures will take place at 27 schools sites, to facilitate social distancing at school drop-offs and picks up, meaning that children and families can utilise roads where needed. Other measures will include the widening of pavements and pathways and the introduction of temporary 20mph limits on roads at some school sites. Cardiff’s recycling centres recently re-opened for the disposal of household items, but for safety reasons, residents will have to book a timed appointment. An online booking system has been set up and anyone that needs to visit a recycling centre will have to make an appointment. Cardiff Blues will return to training at Pentwyn Leisure Centre after a temporary agreement was reached with Cardiff Council and GLL, the charitable leisure social enterprise that operates the facility. With the iconic Arms Park currently utilised as part of the Dragon’s Heart Hospital, a temporary facility was required for the region’s return to rugby next month. A contractor has now been appointed to carry out Phases Two and Three of the Tylorstown landslip remediation – and this work, including the removal of 60,000 tonnes of spoil to two receptor sites, will begin on Monday. Phase Four will begin this time next year.
