Due to the latest Government advice and the need to protect patients and our staff, Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board has taken the difficult decision to stop visiting to our hospitals.
As of yesterday (March 24th) members of the community are asked not to visit any of our hospitals at all, except for the below:
- The patient is receiving end-of-life care (visiting to be agreed with clinical team)
- One partner or birthing partner accompanying a woman in labour and in the post-natal period for a limited time only. No other visitors will be allowed.
- Paediatrics and neonatal areas (one person only as agreed with the clinical team)
The health board has reiterated the advice not to visit if you are feeling unwell, especially if you have a high temperature or new persistent cough.
They are providing free Wifi across our sites and family and friends of patients are encouraged to keep in contact during this difficult time using online technology.
Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Patient Care, Greg Dix, said: “As the Health Board responds to COVID-19 there will be a significant surge in demand for our health services over the coming weeks.
“Given the seriousness of the current situation and UK Government advice we have taken the responsible and proactive decision to stop visiting to our sites. We are asking the public to support us and reduce the spread of the virus by following this policy and hope they understand why we are taking this step.
“We know that this is an extremely difficult time and how important is for patients to retain contact with their loved ones. To enable this we do offer`free WiFi throughout our hospitals. For those with access to smartphones or tablets, we would encourage virtual visiting as a great way of staying in touch with loved ones.
“We are very grateful for your understanding and thank everyone for their support.”
