An investigation into the sale of fake cigarettes and tobacco led by Merthyr Tydfil CBC Trading Standards Service led to the prosecution of Mr Alan Gubrail and Mr Shirwan Ahmad at Merthyr Magistrates Court on the 26 November 2020. Swansea-based Brother Engineering has become the first mask manufacturer in Wales to gain the regulatory approval needed to be able to supply the Welsh NHS. The engineering firm has adapted its way of working in recent months to support the Welsh Government’s efforts to produce and supply vital PPE items. A Macmillan team including GPs and nurses have been shortlisted for a prestigious award for their work to help people with cancer in Wales. The Macmillan Primary Care Cancer Framework team, which works across Wales to improve cancer care in GP surgeries, has been shortlisted in the General Practice Awards. ANOTHER milestone in the fight against Coronavirus has been reached as care home residents and staff receive their COVID-19 vaccination. Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB’s vaccination teams visited Ty Pentwyn care home in Treorchy to provide the vaccine to staff and residents as it is rolled out across the Cwm Taf Morgannwg region. This is part of an initial pilot using the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine which requires careful storage and moving. Two young girls from Swansea and Port Talbot have beaten entries from across the UK to win one of the top prizes in a festive postcard competition. Paul Morgan, who works as an Associate at Amazon in Swansea, entered five-year-old Lili-Rose’s design while Amalia Iagar who works at the Amazon Delivery Station in Port Talbot, entered five-year-old Aleca’s design into the national competition run across all of Amazon’s UK sites.
