With the food system under pressure during the Covid-19 outbreak, Food Cardiff is coordinating city-wide action to support vulnerable people and to promote the positive changes which are being made in response to the lockdown. Food Cardiff has developed a new online food information hub at www.foodcardiff.com and, to connect initiatives happening across the city, has established a Covid-19 Food Response Task Group. International students who want to study in Swansea will now be able to sit a crucial English language test online ensuring their University applications can continue as normal. Pet owners are being warned that their dogs could develop separation anxiety once the coronavirus lockdown ends, having become accustomed to extra human attention while their owners are at home. A group of charity trekkers whose fundraising plans have had to be adapted following lockdown, are taking on a virtual trek – from Penarth to Patangonia. According to the latest NatWest Wales PMI® data, private sector firms signalled a significant decrease in business activity in April, as the outbreak of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and emergency measures to stem the spread were escalated.
