There is something magical about going to the New Theatre at this time of year; Oh Yes It Is, Oh No It Isn’t, Oh Yes It Is… If you’re like me and love going to the theatre all year round, you’ll know that going to a pantomime at Christmas is extra special. Over the years it starts to become a family tradition and is enjoyed by all ages in our family. So, when we were invited to experience this year’s pantomime at the New Theatre, we jumped at the chance. After the record-breaking success of last year’s Snow White &…
Economy Secretary, Ken Skates and Rural Affairs Secretary, Lesley Griffiths have pledged ongoing support for Wales’ food sector following a visit to one of its most iconic and well-loved brands. A North Wales hill farmer is keeping his 16,000 hens happy and laying thanks to underfloor heating from ‘green’ energy stored in the earth. Llyr Jones, who farms 1600 acres 1,000 feet up in the hills near Llanfihangel Glyn Myfyr, is harnessing the power of the ground to keep his hens warm. Under half an acre of grass on which Llyr’s sheep now graze at Derwydd Farm, Denbigh-based Hafod Renewables have laid over 2,000 metres of pipe to carry water heated by the soil to warm a giant henhouse to 18C. Hens perform best when they’re toasty and even when…
North Wales’s first ever community car club has been launched in Corwen and its sprightly lean ‘green’ driving machine has been given the thumbs-up by two of the region’s top politicians. Clwyd South Assembly Member Ken Skates and MP Susan Elan Jones were at the launch of the Edeyrnion Community Car Club and took the chance to put its brand new all-electric Nissan Leaf through its paces. The arrival of the Leaf is seen as the final piece in the jigsaw of their ambitious £100,000 rural transport programme by South Denbighshire Community Partnership. It joins the SADCP’s the 16-seater community…
Principality Building Society has teamed up with Welsh international rugby stars to encourage people in Wales to donate their unwanted rugby shirts this Christmas to a charity changing lives through sport. Principality is asking people across Wales to drop their previously loved rugby shirts into local Principality branches over the next few weeks. The shirts will be donated to adults and young people working with SOHK, which uses sport to help tackle unemployment, crime…
Divorce day 2019 lands on 7th January and is traditionally the busiest day for family lawyers. The festive fun which translates as ‘seasonal tension’ is sometimes too much for couples who are already experiencing difficulties. My advice is not to be a statistic. Divorce day is so crude a phrase for what can be the end of a tough and emotionally tortuous journey. If New Year means new you then take your time and start thinking about what your long terms goals are early. In 2017 a total of 102,007 couples (same-sex, opposite-sex) got divorced. No matter what time of year…
