The development included the purchase of the neighbouring building and has created 20 new employment opportunities in the local area, including mixologists and chefs. Land Studio has been appointed to work with Gwynedd Council to design the public realm for the Viaduct Gardens in Barmouth, mid Wales. The Chester based design studio’s in-house landscape architecture, ecology and civil engineering expertise is all being used on the project. Barmouth was established around the shipbuilding industry of the 1700s. Ships were built in the shelter of the Mawddach estuary where they supported the booming wool industry in Merioneth. Homebuyer demand in Wales increased at its strongest rate in almost three years in March according to the latest Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) Residential Market Survey. The rate at which sellers were listing homes for sale also rose firmly according to respondents, and as a result, sales expectations have increased. Residents and visitors to four Pembrokeshire areas are being invited to get on their bikes following the introduction of an exciting pay as you go E-bike trial. Thanks to funding of £150,000 from the Swansea Bay and South West Wales Metro programme, the trial will run in Haverfordwest, Fishguard & Goodwick and Tenby for 12 months. The trial, which starts on Monday 15th April, will see a fleet of E-bikes provided for members of the public to use for commuting, leisure and local activities. Four talented Cardiff-based musicians have received ‘Sound of the City’ commissions to support the creation of experimental new work, some of which will be presented later this year as part of the recently announced Cardiff Music City festival. The ‘musicians-in-residence’ awarded commissions are N’famady Kouyaté, Natalie Roe, Eugene Capper and Gemma Smith. UPGRADES for high-rise homes in Dyfatty took a step nearer as plans for £55m of investment in council homes was approved by Swansea Council. Work is underway to improve pedestrian facilities in the streets near Penygawsi Primary School – to complement the major investment in state-of-the-art facilities for the school. A new, modern building is being constructed on the existing school site, in time to open for September 2024.
