Young people under 30 are happy to pay more to shop in Welsh, new research has revealed. The survey carried out by leading economist Dr Edward Jones, of Bangor University, showed that 70 per cent of 20 to 29-year-olds were willing to pay a premium for a product or service provided in Welsh. The number of those happy to dig deeper to use Welsh to shop and do business falls among older age groups but is still significant with 46 per cent of over 50s still happy to spend more for the privilege. Shaun Gwyther 26, from Mayhill in Swansea was sentenced to four years and four months in prison for multiple offences at Swansea Crown Court on Wednesday August 28, 2024, after pleading guilty to all offences. On Friday July 26,2024 officers attended an address in Swansea with the intention of arresting Shaun Gwyther. On getting to the address officers noticed Gwyther come out of his home and crossed the road to the lane directly opposite. Transport for Wales has completed a million-pound investment into Flint and Runcorn East railway stations. Improvements at both stations include CCTV, help points, customer waiting and cycle shelters, seating, lighting, waste facilities and signage. Flint station works also included improvements to the ticket office, waiting rooms, water refill units, toilet refurbishments, new customer information screens and landscaping, and was supported by £90,000 funding from Railway Heritage Trust. It is illegal to sell nicotine vaping products to anyone under 18 or for adults to buy them on behalf of under-18s. Throughout the school summer holidays Caerphilly Trading Standards have been carrying out compliance checks with the assistance of the young people of the Caerphilly Youth Forum acting as underage test purchase volunteers. Reality test purchases were attempted at a staggering 132 premises across the County Borough through the school summer holidays.
