The Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles, has officially launched an incentive to attract more people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds into teaching. The Ethnic Minority Incentive Scheme provides up to £5,000 to eligible individuals to ensure the education workforce reflects Wales’ diversity. A total of £5,000 is available to eligible Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic student teachers. £2,500 is available on award of Qualified Teacher Status and a final payment of £2,500 once they complete their induction. The Welsh Government has granted consent for Wales’ first floating windfarm located 40km off the coast of Pembrokeshire. Project Erebus will house seven next-generation 14 megawatt turbines on floating platforms, providing enough low carbon energy to power 93,000 homes.
