More than £1m is being invested in establishing a Merthyr Tydfil creative training scheme to help local residents become artists, musicians, actors and filmmakers. The Wellbeing@Merthyr-coordinated Creative Industry Training Programme is being supported by 10 partners including Community Music Wales, Wales Millennium Centre, the Open University and Screen Alliance Wales. The construction of the new transport interchange in Welshpool is progressing well, with the final phase of resurfacing the Church Street car park planned to begin on Tuesday 10 May. To accommodate the resurfacing works, Church Street car park will be closed for ten days from 10 May. GamCare charity has released an evaluation report of Women’s Programme training sessions and found that 85% of its latest round of participants improved their understanding of gambling harms. The evaluation report was produced by inFocus Consulting, and it detailed the programme’s work across its second year, delivering training to 918 organisations across the UK. The University of South Wales (USW) is one of three partners given £267,954 to fund a project to look at how hydrogen derived from sewage can help cut environmental pollutants. The HyValue project is being led by Dwr Cymru Welsh Water, working in collaboration with USW and Costain, and has benefited from the funding from the £200m Ofwat Innovation Fund, which aims to support developments in the water sector.
