Porthcawl’s land train is having a spooky Halloween makeover, complete with decorations, music, and sweets for kids. Train operator and homelessness charity Emmaus South Wales will be running its Halloween-themed service during the half-term week from Monday 25 October to Sunday 31 October. Adults and children alike who dare to climb onboard are encouraged to wear fancy dress before enjoying Porthcawl’s seafront on the 4-mile round trip from Sandy Bay to Rest Bay, with stops in between. The scaffolding came down to reveal the new mural on the exterior wall at Theatr Gwaun on Friday 24thSeptember and it has had a very positive reception from the people of Fishguard and Goodwick. The mural was commissioned by Ancient Connections, a cross-border arts, heritage and tourism project, linking North Pembrokeshire and North Wexford, funded by the European Regional Development Fund through the Ireland Wales co-operation programme. The mural was created by Grant Radford of Accent London, originally from Port Talbot. He engaged with local schools and community groups linked to Theatr Gwaun before coming up with a draft design.…

The First Minister of Wales, Mark Drakeford, will today host the first Ireland-Wales Forum to be held in Cardiff with Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney T.D. The forum is a key commitment set out in the Shared Statement and Joint Action Plan launched in March of this year. The Welsh Government has today announced its intention to introduce financial incentives to help recruit more ethnic minority teachers. This comes as part of a wider plan being published today that will focus on increasing diversity among applicants into Initial Teacher Education courses. The latest Annual Education Workforce Statistics found that only 1.3% of school teachers in Wales identified as being from an ethnic minority background, compared to 12% of learners.
