Age Cymru and Carers Trust Wales have today on Carers Rights Day (26 November) launched a Wales-wide survey as part of their partnership project funded by Welsh Government. Cardiff Council will be re-opening Castle Street to buses, taxis and emergency vehicles as a temporary measure on Sunday November 29th, while a public consultation is held on the future of the thoroughfare. The re-opening will help buses and taxis cross east to west and west to east more effectively during the on-going road works in the city centre. This temporary design will ensure that the pop-up cycleway – which will run from Leckwith Road up Newport Road to the junction with Broadway – will be retained as part of the temporary scheme. South Wales Police is investigating a stabbing of a teenage boy in Canton, Cardiff, this morning. Emergency Services were called to Broad Street just after 10am and a 17-year-old boy was taken to the University Hospital of Wales. His injuries are described as non-life threatening and his family have been informed. A 15-year-old boy from Riverside has been arrested on suspicion of wounding. Detectives believe this and Saturday’s violent disorder in the city centre are not random attacks and that they involve groups of local teenage boys targeting each other. SOMEONE dialled 999 because they couldn’t sleep, while another called because a pigeon had injured its wing. Other inappropriate calls to the Welsh Ambulance Service in the past year were from someone with onion juice in their eye, a person who thought they had poo in a cut and someone who had trapped their finger in a door. Neath Port Talbot Council’s Cabinet Board is due to consider a report which recommends a range of options to enhance the visitor offer at Neath’s historic Gnoll Estate Country Park. City residents are getting the chance to enjoy a safe and festive visit to Christmas attractions at Museum Park in Swansea’s city centre. Sayers Events is the council’s delivery partner for the annual Christmas attraction, Waterfront Winterland, on Museum Park. However, this was cancelled this year and Sayers has put on a number of different attractions instead. People in Swansea are being urged to avoid high interest charges on Christmas loans and to use the city’s credit union instead. Credit unions are not-for-profit organisations that offer a range of ethical products for savers or those needing loans. A new independent school is opening in St Clears this January. Westward House School is for children at Key Stages 2, 3 and 4 and has a focus on small class sizes and individually tailored teaching.
